Dental cleaning
Removing the tartar and plaque the brush can no longer reach. It is the cheapest treatment we do and the one that prevents the expensive ones.

How often
Every six months if your gums are healthy. Every three or four if there has been gum disease, if you smoke or if you have diabetes: in those cases tartar comes back sooner and waiting six months is expensive.
If you have implants, the hygiene check is not optional. Peri-implantitis does not hurt at first, and it is caught by looking.
A regular cleaning and a deep cleaning are not the same thing
The regular cleaning — the $95 one — removes tartar above the gum and just below it. It is the maintenance one, the one most people have twice a year.
When the gum has already pulled away from the tooth and there is tartar underneath, a deep cleaning is needed: it is done by quadrants, under anaesthetic, over more than one session. It costs considerably more and it is not the same thing.
We tell you this beforehand, not afterwards. If the examination shows you need a deep cleaning, we say so with the price in front of you and you decide. Charging for a deep cleaning someone who came in for a regular one, without warning, is one of the most common complaints in this business. How it will go, visit by visit
With insurance
Cleaning is what almost every dental plan covers best, often at one hundred per cent and twice a year. We verify your plan before you come in and tell you in figures what it pays.
